I bought three movies (buy 2 get one free used from work, whee), but I haven't watched them yet.
Citizen Kane, Collateral, and American Splender.
I really wanted to see Citizen Kane, I kinda wanted to see Collateral, and I really wanted to see American Splender but I remember a few of you guys said it sucked, but it was free, so I "bought" it anyways.
As soon as I get a few free hours I'm going to watch 'em. But right now I need to go to sleep.
Oh I did see Corpse Bride a while back. It was fun and silly and cute in a Nightmare Before Christmas kind of way, but Deacon you were kind of right, some of the music wasn't up to Danny Elfman par. It was still cool, but not nearly as memorable as his usual stuff. Worth seeing, but not nearly as awesome as Nightmare. Not by a long shot.
It seems like ever since Tim Burton got John August to write his movies (well, I guess it started with Planet of the Apes before it), they haven't been accepted as well. I wonder if Burton just really likes August's stuff, or what, because it seems like the obvious thing to do would be to try writing your own movie again and see what happens.

American Splendor was alright but kind of boring.
But also keep in mind that I thought it'd be a lot more about the comic itself than the life of the guy who made the comic. So maybe you won't think it was boring if you're not expecting that.

saw 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched Collateral.
A few parts were goofy and weird with some crappy music, but all in all it was really good. yeah, its a suspense/thriller/murder type movie, which is like the most common movie ever made, but it never really falls into any stupid cliche stuff. I liked it. And Tom Cruise as an old hit man? Awesome.

Stay - See This Movie. Do it. It's kind of a mind-fuck type movie, except it all makes sense. And you don't have to be a friggin genius with a secret decoder ring to see how it makes sense. And also it's goddamn excellent.

Saw II is pretty dumb. See it if you want to see a few people get hurt and die in gross ways.
Monster's Ball is pretty good. See it if you want to see Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton having explicit sex. Or a character study/drama type thing.

Daisy and I saw Catwoman the other night on Showtime or something like that. It was even shittier than I could have imagined.
Best parts would be where Halle Berry is locked up in a jail cell, and then having kind of a flashback voiceover reminding her to embrace her catness, just walks through the space between the bars. Like, ONLY a cat/human hybrid could squeeze between bars.
Another would be where Sharon Stone is plowing her stomach against some glass window and just as she's about to fall out and is hanging for her life, she just kind of... steps out and starts jumping around as if she wasn't just stabbed in the belly and then beaten half to death.
I dunno, it's kind of like the writers just decided the script itself wasn't worth the challenge of coming up with inventive ways to get out of these sticky situations, and just glossed over them instead. It'd be incredibly insulting if I'd paid for a movie ticket, but arguably I'd deserve it.

i watched the naruuto movie last night

I'm now thinking of watching Stay.

Oh yeah, Stay also stars Ewan McGregor, so for Deacon there's a reason to see it.
I saw The Descent. It's about this group of women that go spelunking and Bad Shit Happens™. It's actually pretty scary, and nervewracking. I can't think of another movie which was able to consistently scare me. So, I'd have to say it's a pretty excellent movie, for what it is.

Man, any movie staring a group of women is scary and nervewracking. Ever seen Ya-Ya sisterhood? Ugh. Still gives me nightmares.
Jarhead came out. I wonder why I haven't seen it yet.
Offline
Jamie Foxx maybe.
Speaking of MacGregor, I finally saw Big Fish after owning it for like half a year. I don't know why I put it off so long. It's not like I thought it'd suck, it's like the opposite. When I know a movie is going to be good sometimes I just keep putting off seeing it forever. I still haven't seen RotK EE yet. There's something wrong with me.
Oh and it was good, but I think everyone else already saw it/knows that, so hey.

jarhead was pretty good. it was intense.

I saw Lord of War. It was kinda depressing. And also kinda annoying. It almost felt like watching a book on tape or something, there must've been only 20 minutes total which had no narration. But I guess it was a pretty good movie.

I just watched it last night. I liked it. The only flaw with your thinking is that the comic is all about his life, so a movie about his life is still about the comic.
It was kinda autobiographical, so I can see why you think its boring, but I liked it.

i just saw harry potter and just friends... exceltent movies

For some reason I felt the urge to see this Harry Potter thing, all the movies. So, the first and second movies were.. ok. Actually, they're pretty bad movies. But some parts of the story really made me want to like it, so it averages out to ok. The third one is a good movie and a good story, so it's all good. The fourth one is a mediocre movie and a crap story, sucks. Overall, not a bad series. I expected that I would hate everything about it, and I didn't.

The fourth one is the one out in theaters right now?

Yes.

I just watched the Family Guy movie and I must say... It kinda sucked. It definately had its moments (there were about 4 or 5 times that I laughed really really hard), but other than that it was really kinda boring. I think the reason it was so "eh" to me was it was all about Stewie, who is by far the lamest character on the show. So... I dunno. I guess its worth watching because the funny parts were so funny, but everything else was just... lame.

Well I guess I meant more like, that one scene where he's in line behind the Jewish woman and the comic version of himself starts talking. Because I'm a child.
Or even if it was more about those kind of situations even without the comic thing. I mean, more situational. Seems like it'd be more interesting to see. But then, I hate biography movies pretty bad.
Oh yeah, Daisy and I saw Harry Potter, and I also felt the need to see the first three before seeing it. But I didn't. I'd seen a few minutes of the first one at THC's house but other than that I was blind. It was pretty good, I guess, but the ending was kind of strange to me. Well so was everything since I had no idea who was who other than the most main of characters, but I was entertained at least. A lot of great effects pushed along all the parts that otherwise would be like a British and less funny version of Saved By The Bell.

Yeah I thought I was like, missing 20 minutes of the movie at the end of Goblet of Fire. I think because the story was so thin, there's nothing to resolve at the end. The harry potter World Cup triwizard competition thing doesn't matter because everyone died and evilwhatshisname tried to attack harry but lost and then the end.? I hate this movie. Why is the majority of the story based around some competition I don't give a crap about? It reminds me of Final Fantasy X. I kept thinking "ok so the story starts off with this tournament thing but then it will pick up later!" but then the only other thing that happened was a 5 minute scene where Harry doesn't get killed by whatshisname. Why do I even care so much, it's god damn Harry Potter!

I just saw "Fear and Trembling" on DVD. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A8 … p;v=glance It's about a Belgian woman who goes to live in Tokyo and takes a job as an intern at a Japanese Mega-Corporation. Basically it's the story of how a naive foreigner gets the crap kicked out of her by corporate Japan.
I liked the movie. It was very interesting to watch how each mistake she makes (mistakes that no Japanese would ever have made) drops her down one more rung on the "respect ladder" (and she didn't have much respect to start out with). By the end, her career is in the toilet, and I do mean that literally. Supposedly based on a true story. Worth watching.
Disclaimer: I don't normally watch R-rated movies. This movie was unrated (it being a French film), so I took a chance. In case you don't like nudity in movies, there is one scene in the film that is not for you. Also, in case you don't like seeing David Bowie buried in the ground up to his neck, this movie is not for you.

See I figured if I knew who Voldemort was I'd care more about that last scene, but apparently not.
I liked the guy with the eyeball though. But I think it's not so much that the story sucked as much as it sucked for going nowhere. If it went from that last scene after getting the teleportation cup thing into a much larger story it'd have been better. But it'd probably take four hours so whatever.
