Don't know if anyone ever saw The Comeback on HBO.. it only had one season, a couple years ago. It's a comedy about a former sitcom star (Lisa Kudrow) that has a reality show following her as she attempts to make her comeback on a new sitcom. It's extremely uncomfortable to watch because she's so transparently in denial about everything. I recommend it if you're a fan of that type of cringe-humor.

Hey I thought the same thing but she's good in this. Plus you get to see her get constantly humiliated.

So maybe you heard The Sopranos ended! It was a pretty lame ending but the show hasn't been good in years, if it ever was, so I guess I can't say I'm disappointed. I think I'll try watching Season 1 again because I really don't know if I'd still like it now.
The new show John from Cincinnati started and it's very weird but.. I was more intrigued than I was annoyed with the silliness of it so I'll continue watching.

New season of Big Love was on last night.

Never got into that show.
Initial results on The Sopranos: episode 1 of season 1 is excellent, although a little too reminiscent of Goodfellas, and episodes after that are very hit and miss.. with a lot of missing. I dunno maybe 8 years ago it was deserving of the hype but it doesn't really hold up. One hour TV dramas have improved a lot in that time, but on the other hand the popularity of The Sopranos is probably a big part of why they have improved.

Flight of the Conchords are getting a show on HBO. You can see the first episode on myspace.

Not bad. Reminds me of Tenacious D's HBO show.

I'm really loving this John From Cincinnati show. You have to stop yourself from being overcritical to a certain extent because a lot of it is just nonsense, but it's really enjoyable nonsense that makes me feel all warm inside.

Flight of the Conchords is pretty cool so far. Recommended!

Is John from Cincinnati the show with all the surfer punks on drugs? It's been on a few times after whatever I was watching on HBO but I've never watched it intently enough to not be more than annoyed by it.
Also the more I get into it, the more I'm actually liking Big Love. It's pretty good, but you always have to chalk half of that kind of thing up to being hooked, which is why I usually avoid soap opera/drama shows and RPG games. Anything half decent sucks you in.

So I just read that the last season of the Wire will be a short one (10 episodes). I'm excited to hear any kind of talk about the new season, but I'm bummed that it will be short.

It's about surfers but only one of them is a punk drug user.

I am friggin LOVING Big Love this season. It makes me happy.
Although last nights gave me a crisis of faith... But still. It's a great show.
Flight of the Concords was pretty funny. I'll have to see another episode before I determine if I hate it or not.
John from Cincinnati seems okay, that's another one I'll try to keep up on, however they kinda lost me once I saw that Luke Perry was in the cast.
I'll give it a shot besides this disappointment. I do like Ed O'Neil.

Luke Perry's character is designed to be hated so that should help you out.

I am sooo into Big Love now. I mean I've liked it since the first episode, but holy damn it's getting so good. It sucks that HBO's seasons are so short. There's only one episode left for BL, (airing Sunday night at 9pm!), and I can not wait. I am so oddly drawn to this show. I don't think I could ever be a polygamist, (I don't like sharing anything), but for some reason this show has replaced all others in becoming my favorite. I even close my laptop while watching it just so I'm not distracted. The characters are so much more underhanded than they were last season. Last year the main characters all seemed very goody-goody, just trying to live their lives away from the confining compound and it's overzealous leader. This season nearly everyone who was a sympathetic character last time is now becoming more and more treacherous. It's like season one warmed you up to the idea that this family is totally wholesome, despite their living arrangement and now that you like them, we're going to show some major flaws. It's so fantastic. I definitely want to get the DVD sets as soon as I can.
I heard John from Cincinnati was canceled. There is a new show coming that looks interesting, I hope it fairs better.

Yeah even though I enjoyed John I can't say I'm really torn up about it being canceled. It was kind of going nowhere. Plus David Milch (the creator of the show) needs time to work on Deadwood (his first HBO creation). Right HBO? You're bringing back Deadwood, right? Right? Anyone there?

The Wire has finished filiming its final episode. Last season starts on January 6th.

I can't wait until the new season starts... but I'll be really sad when I finish watching that last episode.

Ok so it's not HBO but this show Weeds on Showtime is pretty good. It's about a suburban mom of two boys whose husband recently died of a heart attack and now she sells marijuana. I thought it sounded pretty dumb, but someone recommended it recently so I checked it out. It's funny and smart, to put it in blurb form.
Also on Showtime is Dexter, which was dumb but watchable last season, and dumb and unwatchable this season. I only mention it because some people act like it's the best show ever but it's just ok at its best times.

Wow, I had no idea that Curb Your Enthusiasm came back for a 6th season... awesome.
Also Dexter is getting watchable again.

I heard Weeds is awesome. I know you wrote that a while back but I never saw it.

I heard Dexter and Weeds were both really good from my Showtime-having friend.
And yeah Curb kind of snuck up as a new favorite show of mine just from catching it since HBO plays it nearly every night. It's the kind of show that you kind of just sit and watch the first time or so and then later you're busting a gut laughing. I'm not sure why.
