Apparently they're airing all 7 episodes of the first season tonight starting at 8 on AMC.

Woops.
In actual HBO news, still been watching Big Love with Daisy. I've gotten to the point in the show where I'm sucked in by the chain of events but I dislike almost every character on the show. It's kind of a weird sensation, usually when you're invested in a show you get way too into the characters. But everyone on the show is selfish and whiny, and Mormon. Actually the Mormonism is probably a plus because it's so bizarre to have like this G-rated Sopranos going on.
Anyway the only characters that are likable on the show are Wanda and Lois (Susan's drunk mom on Seinfeld), but they're really really good. Wanda is deliriously off-balance and Lois is nonchalantly amoral, a good break from the rest of the show. The whole show is really well acted but Melora Walters is so fucking good at playing Wanda as someone for whom human nature doesn't come naturally and has to play it by ear on how to act. When they get Wanda together with Lois it's a really good dynamic.
Also there's that #1 Ladies' Detective Agency coming soon to HBO, which looks kind of silly but potentially good.

Yeah I never really got into Big Love.
Have you watched this Eastbound & Down show at all? It's kinda funny. Not hilarious or great, but I like it.

Yeah I've been watching it, it's got some good moments.
Did you see the last episode? I'm not sure how it'll work if they try to fit some genuine emotion or drama into a show that irreverent and stupid, but at the same time it has me kind of interested. I guess because the end of the last show was being goofy at the same time it was being pseudo-dramatic, so it was like it was parodying itself at the same time as trying to genuinely push a story. I'm not sure I've seen that before. Usually shows that try for both do it really clumsily, like they just partition off part of the comedy show to shoehorn some drama in there (usually standard will-they-won't-they stuff), and it just pisses me off. This looks like it might work.

Yeah I just saw the latest episode. I'm not sure how long they could really keep it going if he remained completely oblivious to his stupidity all the time. I think it's a good move.

Speaking of HBO, did anyone watch that Will Ferrel thing about Bush? It was pretty awful. Watched maybe a half hour and I'd had enough.

Bob Odenkirk was playing a slimy lawyer on the latest episode of Breaking Bad, it was awesome. And even better, it looks like he's going to be a recurring character.

Bob Odenkirk can be amazing when he feels like it. I met him in person very briefly, his weird guy act seems to continue off camera.

True Blood is awful, and I've given it three chances to not be awful. People who like it should just be watching action cartoons instead, because that's about the level of writing and direction in True Blood. Like, I can see how people like the show, but it belongs on FX or USA something because it's really stupid. The special effects look like something out of Smallville, and it sounds retarded every single time someone says "vampire". Should have taken a note from zombie movies and come up with a more natural-sounding word for it. Also overbearingly close-minded Christian antagonists would be bad enough just because of how big a cliche it is, but it seems every time someone employs them they overdo it to the point of being nauseatingly obtuse.
On the other hand, Hung's series premiere was pretty good. Thomas Jane is a likable guy, but not so likable that he's had undue success poured on him. I liked him in the Punisher, which might be working against my point that this show is worth watching. Anyway unlike True Blood it's well written and well directed and interesting so far. I like the idea of going against-type with the "20 years after high school" plotline, following the once-wonderboy jock that became a shitty ball coach instead of the scampy nerd making a comeback. It's kind of more depressing and funnier since it's a truer story. I hope they can come up with some cool stories because the characters seem pretty solid so far.
Bored to Death is coming this fall. Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis in what looks like kind of a tongue-in-cheek detective spoof, and I'm into it.
Also upcoming is The Pacific, which is Stephen Spielberg and Tom Hanks beating World War II into the ground. I really don't know who's left in America that still has an appetite for sappy WWII epics, but looks like they'll be around forever.

That reminds me, I watched Band of Brothers for the first time recently. It was alright, but seriously people think this is like the best thing ever to be on TV?

I haven't seen everything that has ever been on TV but I have seen Band of Brothers and it is outstanding. I have a large appetite for more World War II epics of that quality.

Bored to Death gets better every episode. I like basically every single character in the show. It's not always hilarious, but it's been getting steadily more interesting and funny. Curb Your Enthusiasm somehow seems to get better after all these seasons, too. The bare midriff one was amazing. Getting Jerry Seinfeld in there is really fantastic, and I hope they follow the Seinfeld reunion theme more, though I might have missed a plot point where it all fell apart. Either way, HBO is pretty cool I guess.

I kinda think this season of Curb is not great. It's getting a little too wacky for me at times, the bare midriff episode being one of the worst offenders. There's still a lot of really funny stuff (including in that episode) so it's worth watching but.. not my favorite season.
And I liked the first episode of Bored to Death but then forgot to watch any subsequent episodes. I'll have to catch up on that.
